Two women injured in crash with Grant bus

A driver and passenger in a minivan were injured Monday afternoon when the driver smashed the vehicle into the back of a Grant High School bus, according to police.

The woman driving the champagne-colored minivan and her female passenger were taken to Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

The unloaded school bus was slowing at a stoplight at the intersection of Route 59 and West Grand Avenue when the van crashed into the back of it at 3:25 p.m., said Fox Lake police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz.

Police said the minivan was heavily damaged and was towed from the scene.

A young child and dog in the minivan when it crashed were unharmed and picked up by relatives at the scene, according to police.

The driver of the bus was not injured in the crash.
