Guido lifts Elk Grove
Elk Grove’s Dan Guido struck out four and walked one while tossing a 2-hitter in a 3-0 victory over visiting Hoffman Estates in Mid-Suburban League baseball crossover action Friday.
Blake Cavins doubled and finished 2-for-3 at the plate for Elk Grove (17-12), and Ryan Daubenspeck went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Trent Rehusch suffered the loss for Hoffman Estates (14-18).
Fremd 5, Hersey 3: Joe Leaf continued his stretch of strong starts with 10 strikeouts in 6 innings as defending MSL champion Fremd (18-12) won the rematch of last year’s title game.
Leaf allowed 2 earned runs and 4 hits and had 3 walks. Brett Tudela pitched the seventh for the save and Matt Wisniewski went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
Trevor Haas went 2-for-3 for Hersey (17-14).
Conant 11, Wheeling 4: The Cougars struck for 5 runs in the first and added 5 more in the third to claim victory at Wheeling.
Mike Passaro homered, Zach Losch tripled and Art Sutter, Nick Fillmore and Kyle Gizynski doubled in a 13-hit attack to make a winner of Nate Anderson as Conant improved to 7-18.
All of the 9 hits for Wheeling (5-20) were singles.
Schaumburg 10, Buffalo Grove 6: The visiting Saxons (15-10) broke a 5-5 tie with a 5-run sixth inning to claim victory at BG. Jake Monson went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Jimmy Pinakidis drove in 2 runs and Tommy Ricciardi and Ryan Nisbet both went 1-for-3 with a double and 1 RBI for the Bison (15-16).
Meadows 9, Barrington 1: Matt Hendricks threw a 5-hitter and went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for Rolling Meadows (15-15) in the MSL crossover. Eric Lowe also went 2-for-3 and Kyle Krzeski had 2 RBI.
Ricky Alfonso went 2-for-3 for Barrington (7-26).
