Mike Lutz pitched a complete game for Lake Zurich’s baseball team, allowing only 3 hits and striking out seven to lead the Bears to 7-0 shutout of Vernon Hills Thursday and earn their seventh straight victory.

Lake Zurich (14-15) took the lead in the second when Sean Eder (3-for-3, 3 RBI) singled in Mark Dorfman (2-for-4), who doubled to left. Then, Lutz singled in Eder for the second run.

Lutz aided his own cause by going 2-for-3.

After scoring two in the third and one in the fourth, Eder hit a two-run blast over the left-field fence scoring Antony Drago, who doubled to lead off the fifth.

Parker Asmann (2-for-4) also blasted a double for Lake Zurich.

Grayslake Central 5, Crystal Lake South 3: The Rams picked up their 20th win, led by Derek Idstein, who pitched the complete game and gave up only 3 earned runs.

Austin Leggett went 1-for-3 with 3 RBI. Jon Gurchak was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Austin Miller was 2-for-4 and scored twice.

Mundelein 3, Rolling Meadows 1: Nik Gastfield doubled, and Chris Maranto slammed a triple to improve the Mustangs’ record to 25-6.
