Cary-Grove 3, CL South 0: Cary-Grove sophomore Lindsay Efflandt hit the 200 strikeout mark for the season Monday as she whiffed six Crystal Lake South hitters in leading the Trojans to a 3-0 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win. Emma Gaulke drove in a run and Sara Markelonis had 2 hits for Cary-Grove (23-1, 13-0). Hannah Mahoney suffered the loss for the Gators.
Jacobs 6, McHenry 1: Marissa Lombardo fired a 4-hitter and Kara Arceneaux (3-for-4, 2B) and Jackie Hengler (2B) Led the offense as the Golden Eagles (16-10, 9-4) won in the FVC Valley. Lombardo had 8 strikeouts and just 1 walk.
Huntley 11, Dundee-Crown 0: Taylor Larson threw a 2-hitter with 6 strikeouts and no walks as Huntley (14-14, 8-5) notched an FVC Valley win. Brittany Koss (2-for-4, HR, 3 RBI), Larson (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Randi Peterson (2-for-3, 2B, RBI, 3 runs) led the Red Raiders offensively. Melany Love was the losing pitcher.
DeKalb 9, Burlington Central 6: The Rockets pounded out 9 hits off DeKalb freshman phenom Katie Kowalski but couldn’t contain the Barbs in this nonconference loss. Haley Albamonte had a home run and Amanda Ritchie a double for BC (14-15). Kelsey Johnson was the losing pitcher.
