Jacobs’ softball team hosted a breast cancer awareness day Friday when the Golden Eagles hosted District 300 rival Dundee-Crown and the Golden Eagles didn’t disappoint their fans.
Senior Marissa Lombardo fired a 2-hitter with 8 strikeouts and no walks as Jacobs won the Fox Valley Conference game 4-0.
“We’re happy we were able to get it in and it turned out to be a great event,” said Jacobs coach Jeremy Bauer.
Alyssa Lach was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for Jacobs (15-10, 8-4). Melany Love suffered the loss in the circle for the Chargers.
Huntley 3, CL South 2: Taylor Larson (11-10) allowed just 5 hits as the Red Raiders pulled out an FVC win in Crystal Lake, scoring all 3 runs in the first inning. Randi Peterson and Ashley Laxner each had RBI for Huntley (13-12, 7-5). Liz Adams had 2 hits and an RBI for the Gators. Hannah Mahoney suffered the loss in the circle.
Cary-Grove 13, McHenry 0: The Trojans (22-1, 12-0) continued to roll with this easy FVC win, which also gave Cary-Grove the FVC Valley title outright. Lindsay Efflandt allowed just 1 hit and struck out nine with no walks in winning her 20th game of the season. Sara Markelonis (3B, 2 RBI), Alexis Haley (3B), Emma Gaulke (2-for-3, RBI) and Lisa Semro (3-for-4, 2B) led the Trojans’ offense.
