Matt Panek ran his record to 5-0 on the season and Michael Vilardo went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI as Cary-Grove defeated Dundee-Crown 9-4 Friday in Fox Valley Conference baseball action.
Dan Leisten and Alex Wians each had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Trojans and Panek allowed just 3 hits. Jake Romano had a double and 3 RBI for Dundee-Crown (17-12, 14-7) and Dylan Kissack drove in a run. Erik Brewer was the losing pitcher.
Burlington Central 19, Huntley 13: The Rockets (17-7) scored 6 runs in the final two innings to come away with a win in this nonconference slugfest that produced 36 hits. Ray Hunnicutt (2-for-4, 2 doubles, 4 RBI), Tanner Scott (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI), Zach Ranney (3-for-4) and Nick Hahn (4-for-5, 3 RBI) led BC. Luke Fleming added a double. Ranney’s RBI single in the sixth was the game-winning hit. Bryce Only had 2 home runs and a double for the Red Raiders (19-5), while Nick Corpolongo, Josh Moore and Justin Gundlach each had doubles. Tyler Davila added a double and 2 hits and Colin Lyman had 2 hits for Huntley. Joey Lange picked up the win in relief for the Rockets and Carlos Alvarez was Huntley’s losing pitcher.
CL South 4, McHenry 3: Dom Winiecki scored the game-winning run on an error as South (16-8, 12-7) prevailed in the FVC. Tyler Salm had a double and an RBI for the Gators and Robbie Lemke drove in a run. Brandon Seiser (3-1) picked up the win in relief.
Prairie Ridge 17, Jacobs 1: The Golden Eagles (10-15, 8-10) managed just 2 hits and committed 6 errors in this FVC loss. Greg Mixon (2-4) was the losing pitcher.
