For the third consecutive year, the Cary-Grove girls are McHenry County track andf field champions.
The Trojans rolled to 128 points to easily take honors in the meet held on their home track Thursday night.
Prairie Ridge and Huntley tied for second with 66 points each.
“The girls did a very, very good job,” said Cary-Grove coach Mark Anderson. “This is an awesome accomplishment, especially for the seniors.”
Sarah Ryan paced the Trojans with wins in the 100 (12.78) and 200 (26.74). Also taking top honors for the county champs were Carly Loeffel (400, 59.90) and Kathie Wollney (300 hurdles, 46.69. The Trojans also won the 800 and 1,600 relays in respective times of 1:46.76 and 4:14.37.
Huntley's lone first was in the 3,200 meter relay with a time of 9:57.54.
Crystal Lake South was sixth with a score of 57 points. Along with wins from Kamille Udrenaite in the shot put and discus and a first-place finish from Lexi Dahl in the pole vault on Wednesday, Marianne Collard won the 800 for the second straight year. Collard crossed the finish line in 2:22.87.
“I felt I ran a good race and was in control,” said Collard. “I actually like coming from behind to win, but it was nice to be in the lead.”
Jacobs was seventh with a score of 36.
The Golden Eagles got 20 of their points during Wednesday's field events. Allie Virgillio won the triple jump while Olivia Mayer placed first in the long jump.
