IArtists exhibit at COD gallery March 21-April 25

IArtists, a group of College of DuPage students and faculty and community artists, presents “Imagine New Orleans,” an exhibition of work donated to rebuilding efforts in New Orleans, from Monday, March 21, to Monday, April 25, at the Wings Student Gallery in the Student Resource Center at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

An opening reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 6.

“Imagine New Orleans” is a collection of paintings depicting the city's rich culture and history. An offshoot of COD Art Professor Jennifer Hereth's class, group members were inspired by an inspirational episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” highlighting the Make It Right Foundation and the work they're doing to rebuild homes in the hurricane-damaged area.

The group of artists is partnering with Lutheran Church Charities of (location?) to send high-quality canvas prints of their paintings to owners of the newly rebuilt homes. Volunteer artists have hosted several showings locally as well as fundraisers to pay for the prints and shipping.

The free exhibit is on display at the Wings Gallery in the COD Student Resource Center. The gallery is open noon to 12:45 p.m. and 4 to 7:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays; 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays; 2 to 7 p.m. Thursdays; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays.
