Active adults aged 50 or better are invited to sign up for a field trip hosted by the Addison Park District. March trips are scheduled to see the "Gold" exhibit at the Chicago Field Museum, Long Grove Confectionary Chocolate Factory Tour and a performance by The Celtic Tenors at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora.

"Gold," a comprehensive travelling exhibit at the Field Museum, features more than 550 dramatic displays of gold items including the largest placer nugget found in the Western hemisphere and the world's first minted coins. Additional highlights include Harrison Ford's Golden Globe award, Tom Brokaw's Emmy award and a Kentucky Derby trophy standing nearly two feet tall.

Sign up today for this trip departing from Community Rec. Center at 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 2 and returning to Addison at 4:30 p.m. The Gold Exhibit at Chicago Field Museum is available for $55 to Addison residents or $65 for non-residents.

If you love chocolate, then Long Grove Confectionary Company's Chocolate Factory Tour is a must see. The excursion begins under the canopy of an antique stained glass dome inside the factory's candy store before touring the 85,000-square-foot facility and specialty chocolate kitchen. The guided tour provides an explanation of how chocolate is created, viewing of production and packaging of their fine chocolates. This trip departs from Community Rec. Center at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 10 and returns to Addison late afternoon. The Long Grove Chocolate Factory Tour is available for $35 to Addison residents or $40 for non-residents.

The Celtic Tenors continue to reinvent themselves by pioneering a new style of “cool” which breaks the traditional stuffy tenor mold. They have established themselves as the most successful classical crossover artists ever to emerge from Ireland and will be performing at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora on Saturday, March 26. The Addison Park District will provide tickets and transportation to and from the concert to residents for $45 and $50 for non-residents. The bus will depart from Community Rec. Center at 2:45 p.m. and return at 7 p.m.

To register for a tour, stop by the Addison Park District administrative office located at Community Rec. Center, 120 E. Oak Street, call (630) 883-0100 or register online at www.addisonparkdistrict.org.
