D300 schools out a second day

Officials in Community Unit District 300 have canceled school for Thursday after assessing the affects of the blizzard. District 300 Superintendent-elect Michael Bregy said in a statement that safety conditions at each of the district’s 26 schools varied, and despite the district’s best efforts it could not guarantee that the district would be ready for students and teachers Thursday.

Each principal will send a message notifying parents on the status of after-school practices, performances and activities.

“I apologize if this is an inconvenience for you,” Bregy wrote in a message to parents. “But the decision has been made with our priority of student safety.”

Classes in District 300 will resume on Friday.
