Carmel wins sixth of last seven
Jackie Meier led three players in double figures with 15 points, as Carmel Catholic's girls basketball team continued its strong play with a 70-43 rout of visiting North Chicago in nonconference action Saturday.
Carmel (15-9), which won for the sixth time in its last seven games, also received 12 points from Beth Scudder and 10 from Sarah McHugh. Erin Quinn and Tylee Resetich each contributed 9 points.
Darniqua Hood had 19 points for North Chicago.
Grant 47, Lake Forest Academy 15: Freshman Kaylie Kanzler scored 8 points and Donnie Taggart added seven, as the Bulldogs stretched their winning streak to a season-best three games.
Grant (10-13) led 12-9 after the first quarter and then allowed only 6 more points the rest of the nonconference game.
Taggart, Morgan Jahnke and Trisha Palmieri each sank a 3-pointer for the Bulldogs.
Zion-Benton 52, Elk Grove 43: Juanita Robinson had 19 points, 6 steals and 6 assists for the host Zee-Bees in the nonconference game.
Freshman Samantha Rodriguez added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 steals for Zion-Benton (18-5). It was the fifth straight game in which she has scored in double figures.
Morgan Garrett chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds for Z-B, which led only 20-18 at halftime and 29-27 after three quarters, before outscoring the Grenadiers 23-16 in the fourth.
CL Central 49, Grayslake North 41: The Knights fell to 7-17 overall and 2-9 in the Fox Valley Fox.
Hoffman Estates 40, Warren 37: Alyssa Phillips scored 11 points for the Blue Devils in the nonconference game.
Warren fell to 12-12.
