Maddie Kerr scored 13 points and Enza Ranallo added 10 Friday night as the St. Edward girls basketball team rolled to a 44-30 Suburban Christian Gold win at Chicago Christian.

The Green Wave (8-2, 3-1) trailed 24-23 going into the fourth quarter before they outscored the host Knights 21-6 in the final 8 minutes.

Callie Johnson added 8 points for St. Edward, while Rena Ranallo had 6 points and 6 steals, Alex Lee 10 rebounds, and Paige Gannon 7 rebounds.

McHenry 53, Burlington Central 24: The Rockets (6-6) could muster no offense, including being shut out in the fourth quarter, in losing in the first round of the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic. Brenda Thasavong led BC with 8 points.

CL South 45, North Chicago 35: Brittany Pittas scored 18 points and Stephanie Melone added 10 as CL South (1-10) won for the first time this season in the first round of the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic. Megan Hoffman added 7 points for the Gators.

St. Charles East 56, Elgin 35: Briana Hamilton had a game-high 20 points in this Upstate Eight River loss for the Maroons (0-11, 0-4).
