DuPage Forest Preserve District 6: Kotecki

The race for a seat in DuPage Forest Preserve District 6 pits longtime Republican incumbent Roger Kotecki against Democrat Shannon Burns, a political newcomer who helped lead the fight against expansion of a maintenance facility in the Blackwell Forest Preserve.

We endorse Kotecki, the 20-year veteran from Warrenville, who continues to be a strong voice for preservation and restoration of open space, a financial watchdog and a familiar face in the preserves. Burns, a West Chicago resident, is an avid volunteer and supporter of open space who deserves applause for raising legitimate concerns about the maintenance facility.

District 6 covers all or portions of Bartlett, Carol Stream, West Chicago, Winfield, Wheaton, Warrenville, Naperville and Aurora.
