Viator nets runner-up finish at IMSA

St. Viator improved to 17-4 as it went 4-1 Saturday in the Illinois Math and Science girls volleyball tourney in Aurora, losing only to Batavia (24-26, 25-18, 25-16) in the championship.

The runner-up Lions were led on attack by Emily Leazer (42 kills), Julie Sweeney (20 kills), Janelle Stilling (19 kills) and Lauren Falotico (15).

Senior setter Carlyn Clevenger handed out 95 assists while Lauren Bunda led the back row with 68 digs.

Leazer served a team-high 18 ace in the five matches.

Lake Forest Invite: Hoffman Estates took third place in the tourney with a 3-2 record.

The Hawks (10-14) were led on attack by senior Jada Stotts (43 kills, 12 aces, 51 digs, 17 blocks) and sophomore Becca Stoczynski (15 kills. 36 digs, 15 blocks) while seniors Mel McGinn (50 assists) and Kelsey Pellus (26 assists) set the offense.

Stevenson tourney: Wheeling (16-9) went 1-4 in the tourney, led on attack by Kellie Kuzmanic (30 kills), Kayla Jordan (23) and Stephanie Hennessy (13).

Stephanie Fuchs handed out 93 assists for the Wildcats while Jordan (43 digs), Taylor Schroeder (41) and Annette Gorzelany (34) led the back row defense.
