Segura's hat trick finishes Antioch's day in style
A little "O" from Oscar was all Antioch's soccer team needed to finish the Badger Invitational on a high note.
Oscar Segura scored all of Antioch's goals in its 3-0 shutout of Shoreland Luther (Wis.) in Lake Geneva, Wis., on Saturday.
Zak Semitka assisted on the first two goals, and Danny Vargas earned the assist on Segura's hat-trick tally. Sequoits keepers Alex Grimm and Jeremy Pasterz made a combined 4 saves to share the shutout.
Antioch (11-1-2) started the day with a 2-1 loss to Grant in penalty kicks. Segura had the only goal for Antioch, which visits Lakes on Monday in a makeup game.
Alex Zepeda scored the tying goal for Grant in the second half.
Grant (8-1-2) followed up with a 1-1 regulation tie with Maine East, but lost in penalty kicks for a 2-1 loss in what was the championship game of the tournament.
Andrew Noda scored for Grant in regulation off an Anthony Pecorini assist. Pecorini also made 10 saves in goal.
Grayslake Central 3, Woodstock North 0: Phillip Longenecker had 2 goals and Diego Gomez scored as well, as the Rams won the Fox Valley Fox match. Eder Lopez added an assist for Grayslake Central (6-6, 4-3), and Kevin Anderson recorded the shutout with 4 saves.
Cary-Grove 3, Libertyville 1: At Carmel, the Trojans handed the Wildcats their first loss of the season.
Carmel 1, Lakes 0: Blake Quaiyoom scored the lone in the tournament finale at Carmel.
Warren 1, Maine West 1: Michal Szczepanek finished, and Billy Eddy assisted, as Warren (5-7-3) earned the draw.
Blue Devils keeper Brady Walsh made 8 saves.
Round Lake 5, Francis Parker 2: Jordi Rubio had 3 goals and an assist for the Panthers.
Round Lake also got strikes from Armando Alvarez and Jose Garcia. Edgar Rodriguez had 2 assists, while Garcia and Lorenzo Cortez also assisted on goals.
