Scouting Grant at Round Lake

Last week: Grant lost to Plainfield North, 49-24; Round Lake d. Sullivan 42-0.

Skinny: Grant's schedule lightens up after losses to Crystal Lake South (41-12) and Plainfield North. Or does it? Round Lake is coming off its first win since Week 2 of the 2007 season, and the Panthers are feeling confident in John Coursey's third season as head coach. The Panthers run the football with some legitimate talents in Jacoby Griffin (114 yds., 3 TDs vs. Sullivan), Jorge Venegas, Danny Vega and Edgar Rivera. All four backs had touchdowns against Sullivan. ... Grant QB Leo Minne scored all 4 of the Bulldogs' touchdowns at Plainfield North last Friday night. Minne (283 yds., 5 TDs) and FB Steve Niewiedzial (166 yds.) lead Grant's option attack. Quinton Quarles has been active defensively, with 17 tackles, including 11 solos and 2 for loss. He had 10 tackles against Plainfield North.
