Lisle slips by Westmont, reaches supersectional
Lisle 2, Westmont 1: Bekka Houda (15-5) struck out eight in a 4-hitter, and the Lions beat Westmont for the third time this season to win the Class 2A Lisle sectional.
Lisle (22-9) tied the game in the bottom of the first, Kelly Urban tripling and Melanie Early singling her in.
In the third Dani Grego reached on an error and came around to score on a second Westmont error.
Houda retired 17 batters in a row at one point for Lisle, who plays Morrison in Monday's supersectional in DeKalb. The Lions beat Morrison 2-0 to win the Lisle Invite two weeks ago.
York 4, Wheaton North 0: Jordan Woll scattered 9 hits, striking out four, as No. 15 seed York beat No. 7 Wheaton North at the Class 4A Willowbrook regional for its first regional title since 2003.
Jenny McDunn went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI for York (19-16), who advances to play West Chicago on Thursday at St. Charles North.
Downers Grove North 1, Naperville Central 0: Kendall Ryndak and Elaine Heflin combined on a 2-hitter at the Class 4A Benet regional.
Ryndak (14-6) struck out eight in four innings, with freshman Heflin fanning five. The No. 2 seed Trojans (28-8), who advance to play Lockport on Thursday at Bolingbrook, scored the game's lone run in the third. Sarah Anderson reached on a bunt single and came around to score on a Rachel Bradley single.
Lockport 10, Naperville North 1: Amanda Stanton's 3-run homer keyed a 10-hit attack for the No. 3 seed Porters at the Class 4A East Aurora regional. Sammy Marshall went 2-for-4 and scored the lone run for Naperville North (20-14).
Glenbard South 13, Chicago Jones 1: Danielle Chitkowski (7-0) struck out 12 in a five-inning 1-hitter at the Class 3A Glenbard South regional. Jenny Wittenberg went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI for No. 2 seed Glenbard South (32-3), which advances to play Trinity on Thursday in Glen Ellyn.
Downers Grove South 5, Lyons Twp. 0: Katie Talbot (22-2) struck out seven in a 3-hitter for the No. 1 seed Mustangs at the Class 4A Hinsdale South regional.
Marissa Mersch went 2-for-3 with a run scored, RBI and stolen base, Michelle Lisy 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and run scored and Katy LaCivita 2-for-4 with 2 doubles, an RBI and run scored. Jenny Nichols also went 2-for-3 and scored a run for Downers Grove South, which advances to play Neuqua Valley on Wednesday at Bolingbrook.
Nazareth Academy 5, Montini 2: Four errors contributed to the No. 5 seed Broncos' undoing at the Class 3A Montini regional. Tori Shipbaugh singled in a run for Montini (21-16) and Lara Mangialardi had a double.
