Cetkovic powers Elk Grove past Loyola
Junior Kristen Cetkovic belted her team-high eighth home run and classmate Jessica Balzano extended her hitting streak to 31 games as the Elk Grove softball team stopped host Loyola 7-1 in Glenview on Tuesday.
Grens senior Stephanie Maday (15-1) gave up 1 hit in the first 3 innings while Dani Goranson (15-2) went the final four giving up 3 hits with 4 strikeouts.
Cetkovic (2-for-4, double) belted a 3-run homer in the second inning.
Other top hitters for the Grens (30-3) were Goranson (2-for-4, 2 RBI, double), Balzano (3-for-5, 1 run) and sophomore Rebecca Walz (2-for-3, double).
Elk Grove posted its fourth straight 30-win season under Hall of Fame coach Ken Grams.

Senior Kristine Werling (3-for-4, 2 steals, 1 run), senior Jenny Schneider (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 1 run) and sophomore Megan Hubbard (double) were other offensive leaders for the MSL West champs, who will host Elk Grove for the Mid-Suburban League championship at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Rolling Meadows 10, St. Viator 9: Visiting Rolling Meadows (19-14) set a school record for single-season wins as junior Kayla Mueller pitched the first 4 innings to improve to 8-2.
Junior catcher Kelly Keyzer (3-for-4, double), freshman Sam Anderson (3-for-4), freshman Emily Hattory (2-for-4) and sophomore Josie Suchecki (double) led the Mustangs' offense.
Tayler Lenart (2-for-4), Alex Flasch (2-for-4, double) and Melanie Slawny (2-for-4, triple) paced the offense for the Lions (16-15).

She lost her perfect game when senior Michelle Marlega drew a walk to lead off the seventh. Sophomore Alyssa Bojarski then reached on an error giving the Warriors (11-19, 5-5) runners on first and third.
But Roth struck out the next three batters to end the game with 17 strikeouts, including 12 straight to start the game.
