Friday's Fox Valley roundup

Marissa Lombardo not only earned the victory in the circle for the Jacobs softball team Friday she also recorded 3 RBI to pace Jacobs offensively in a 7-0 win over Dundee-Crown in a Fox Valley Conference (Valley Division) matchup in Carpentersville.

Kara Arceneaux added a home run for the Golden Eagles (11-6, 5-3) and Kelsey Peterson hit a double. Lombardo threw all 7 innings. She struck out seven and walked three.

Brittany Schultz recorded 2 singles for the Chargers' only 2 hits of the afternoon. Amanda Eissler was the losing pitcher for Dundee-Crown (1-14, 0-8).

Huntley 6, Crystal Lake South 4: The Red Raiders (14-6, 6-2) pulled out a victory as they defeated Crystal Lake South in Fox Valley (Valley action. Taylor Larson led the Red Raiders with a perfect 2-for-2 effort at the plate with a triple and 2 RBI while Nikki DeMarco went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Larson (12-5) also picked up the victory in the circle allowing 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out five in a complete-game effort.

St. Edward 8, Plainfield North 6: The Green Wave (14-11) scored early and then held onto the lead as they defeated nonconference opponent Plainfield North on the road. Sarah Field (RBI) and Bre Medinger (2B) recorded half of the Green Wave's hits with 3 hits each, while Kristina Brockner (HR) and Maddie Kerr drove in 2 runs each. Field also earned the victory in the circle scattering 10 hits while allowing 4 earned runs and striking out six.

Christian Liberty Academy 11, Westminster Christian 3: The Warriors (1-12) showed improvement, but were unable to come away with a victory as they were defeated by Christian Liberty Academy. Katie Moeller went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Hannah Graves added a 2-for-4 performance and scored a run to lead the Warriors. Graves (0-6) suffered the loss in the circle as she struck out two and walked 11 in 7 innings of work.

Cary-Grove 7, McHenry 5: The Trojans (16-6, 7-1) put up a big 5-run, third inning and held off a feisty McHenry team to earn this Fox Valley (Valley) victory on the road. Abbe Wienckowski (2-for-3, 2 doubles), Alexis Haley (2-for-4, 2 RBI), and Emma Gaulke (3B, 2 RBI) led the Trojans on offense. Lindsay Efflandt (14-3) pitched a complete game to earn the victory as she gave up 11 hits, 2 earned runs, and 2 walks while striking out 3.
