Barrington sweeps Libertyville: The host Fillies earned two victories, both times 6-1 in nonconference play.
In Game 1, Kesley Kazmier went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI, Courtney Blum doubled and scored twice and Colleen Shandley had a pair of hits to help make a winner of Kiley Dolezal (14-3). The game was tied at 1-1 through 31/2 innings before Barrington scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and pulled away in the sixth with 3 more runs.
In Game 2, Shandley, Kristin Kuhn and Elizabeth Owen had 2 hits apiece and Dana Moran went 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI as freshman Loren Krzysko was a winner in her first pitching decision of the season with a 4-hitter.
Both teams played error-free in Game 2 as Barrington improved to 16-3 overall.
Leyden sweeps Maine South: Morgan Maize had a big day pitching and hitting as Leyden (14-3) beat host Maine South 5-3 and 6-5.
Maize (9-1) allowed 1 earned run and 5 hits with 8 strikeouts and no walks in the first game. She also went 5-for-8 with 2 doubles in the doubleheader.
Christina Morgan also had 2 hits in each game and 2 doubles in Game 2. Hannah Seymore (4-2) finished the sweep by allowing 2 earned runs and 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks.
Schaumburg sweeps Niles West: The visiting Saxons picked up a pair of nonconference 6-3 victories, but the second one took 9 innings.
In the first game, the key was a 4-run fifth inning, which put Schaumburg ahead 6-2.
Rachel Kakareka earned the victory as the Saxons out-hit Niles West 12-11, including a homer from sophomore Courtney Raschk, and played errorless ball.
In Game 2, Alyssa Lancaster doubled and tripled and Becca Thompson doubled twice as part of a 17-hit attack. The Saxons scored 3 runs in the ninth inning after the game was tied 3-3 after 7 as Lancaster picked up the pitching decision.
Rolling Meadows sweeps Evanston: Rolling Meadows coach Tony Wolanski notched career win No. 11 as the visiting Mustangs won 12-10 and 8-3.
Junior catcher Kelly Keyzer led Meadows (10-7) by going 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI while other mulitple hitters were sophomore Natalie Cannizzo (2-for-4, 2 RBI), sophomore Josie Suchecki (2-for-5), junior Abby Matayka (2-for-5, 2 RBI) and senior Maryclare Loughery (2-for-4, RBI).
Freshman Sara Brunlieb (4-2) earned the win while junior Kayla Mueller picked up the save.
In Game 2, Mueller (2-0) picked up the win by throwing the final five innings with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks.
Matayka, freshman Sam Anderson and sophomore Ellie Morgan each went 2-for-4 for Meadows while Keyzer had a double.
Fremd sweeps Mundelein: Host Fremd (16-1) won 11-1 (5 innings) and 8-3 as sophomore Megan Hubbard was 3-for-3 with a home run, 2 stolen bases and 4 RBIs in game 1.
Senior Lena Brottman (14-1) earned the win on the mound.
Sophomore Rachel Doering (2-0) got the win in Game 2 and teammate Kelly Voigt was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Ppd: Prospect and Lake Zurich were postponed due to unplayable field conditions in Mount Prospect due to rain .
