Stimpson puts her stamp on Grant victory
Kassie Stimpson scored twice and added an assist, as Grant's girls soccer team defeated Round Lake 3-1 in North Suburban Prairie Division action Wednesday.
Rebecca White added a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs, while Vanessa Foreman also earned an assist.
Keeper Roberta Avilez made 5 saves for Grant (5-5-3).
Round Lake got its goal from Bianca Mahoney.
Warren 4, Libertyville 1: Natalia Jovanovic scored twice in the first half, both times off assists from Megan Kilroy, as the Blue Devils won the North Suburban Lake Division match.
Sarah Musick and Jackie Luka also scored for Warren (6-5), while Amanda Macuiba had 4 saves in goal.
Antioch 2, Waukegan 1: Sara Knupp and Abbi McIlhany scored for the Sequoits (4-6) in their opening game of the Lakes tournament.
Lakes 2, Grayslake North 1: Ashley Neubeck scored twice in the first half, and her tallies held up, as the Eagles rallied to win their opening game of their own tournament.
Michelle Kosmen and Kristina Umlauf had assists for Lakes.
Alyssa Soulis had given Grayslake North (7-6-1) a 1-0 lead about 15 minutes into the match. Lainey Pasternak assisted.
Lake Zurich 2, Lake Forest 1: Emily Jehl scored in the first half for the Bears, and Hailey Chmela netted the game-winner in the second half.
Vanessa Abad and Brooke Sill had assists for Lake Zurich (5-4-1, 3-0 North Suburban Lake).
