Glenbard South's Wilkes just misses perfect game
Glenbard South 7, Yorkville 0: Jess Wilkes took a perfect game into the seventh inning, and the No. 4 Raiders exploded for a 7-run sixth in Yorkville.
Wilkes (9-0) settled for a 1-hitter, striking out nine. Jenny Wittenberg went 3-for-4, Wilkes 2-for-4 with 2 runs batted in and Brianna Meath 2-for-4 with 2 stolen bases for Glenbard South (14-0, 5-0 Western Sun Conference).
Glenbard North 13, York 7: Natalie Shank went 4-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI for the No. 8 Panthers (8-3). Alyssa Jasinski and Kelsey Muller each went 3-for-5 with a double and 2 RBI and Jessica Norman 2-for-3 with a double, walk an an RBI.
Wheaton North 3, Oak Park 1: Paige Evangelista singled in Maddie Bucheit with the go-ahead run in a 2-run Falcons eighth inning in Oak Park. Paige Wilson doubled twice and drove in a run for No. 9 Wheaton North (12-2).
Neuqua Valley 9, Elgin 7: Jenna Marsalli slugged two 2-run homers and the visiting Wildcats (10-5, 6-2 Upstate Eight Conference) rallied with 3 runs in the fifth and 2 in the sixth. Colleen Hohman (3-2) pitched three innings of scoreless relief. Chelsea Mueller went 3-for-3 and scored 4 runs and Leigh Nebendahl went 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI for No. 14 Neuqua.
Lisle 5, Seneca 0: Melanie Early fired a 3-hitter, striking out eight, and backed her cause with a 2-run homer in the fourth at Seneca. Colleen Drennan went 2-for-4, scored a run and drove in a run for Lisle (7-5, 4-2 Interstate Eight Conference).
Benet 10, Hinsdale Central 0: Mikayla Panko went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored for the visiting Redwings (6-9). Allyson Staats (6-6) struck out five in a 3-hitter.
St. Francis 13, Timothy Christian 3: Bri Pasquale homered and Emily Karpinski tripled and drove in 3 runs for the Spartans (12-6). Blaine Carragher went 3-for-4 and also had 3 RBI.
