Tuesday's Fox Valley roundup

Larkin 9, Streamwood 3: The Royals (2-8, 1-1) were able to get ahead early on the Sabres (4-3, 0-1) en route to their first victory in Upstate Eight Conference play at home. Alex Buhrow (4 RBI) and Megan Johnson (3 RBI) provided the power for the Royals as each hit a home run and combined to knock in 7 out of Larkin's 9 runs. Kelsey Lodge added a 2-for-3 performance while picking up 2 RBI. Kiernan Shock went the distance in the circle, earning her first varsity victory, pitching 7 innings of 2-hit ball while striking out 8 and giving up just 1 earned run.

Cary-Grove 6, CL Central 1: Beth Maloney tossed a 3-hitter and Sarah Leudl was 3-for-4 with an RBI as the Trojans (3-2) won this Fox Valley Conference crossover game. Emma Gaulke had 2 hits for Cary-Grove and Eleni Polites drove in a run.

Grayslake Central 5, Dundee-Crown 3: Melany Love allowed just 2 hits and had 12 strikeouts but Dundee-Crown (0-4) committed 5 errors in this FVC crossover loss. Love also had a double for the Chargers.

St. Edward 5, Chicago Christian 5: Tara McShane was 4-for-6 with a double, triple and an RBI but darkness suspended this Suburban Christian Blue game after 12 innings. It will be completed when Chicago Christian visits Elgin later in the season. Kristina Brockner drove in 2 runs for St. Edward, while Veronica Rolando and Sarah Field each had RBI. Kali Kossakowski had 2 of St. Edward's 10 hits. Field pitched all 12 innings for the Wave, striking out 11.

Bartlett 13, South Elgin 0: The Hawks (4-1, 2-0) pounded out 12 hits and won this Upstate Eight Conference game in six innings. Callie Dennison had 2 home runs and 4 RBI for Bartlett, while Lauren Chuchvara (3-for-3, 2B), Katie Popovich (2B) and Kaylyn Zierke (2-for-3) each contributed to the Bartlett offense. Dennison (3-1) earned the win in the circle, allowing just 4 hits in 5 innings of work. Xenia Cerda suffered the loss for South Elgin (1-5, 0-1), which committed 5 errors in the game.

Lake Park 13, Elgin 1: Brandi Hernandez, Kelly Patchett and Megan Gallagher had the only hits Elgin (3-7, 0-1) could manage in this Upstate Eight Conference loss. Patchett was the losing pitcher for the Maroons.
