St. Edward 5, Morris 4: Driscoll transfer Tarah McShane (3 RBI) started off her season with the Green Wave (1-0) on a high note as she hit a 2-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to propel St. Edward to victory over visiting Class 4A Morris. Kristina Brockner (2B, RBI) led the Green Wave offensively, recording 2 of their 3 hits. Sarah Field went the distance for the Wave in the circle, giving up 3 earned runs and 8 hits while striking out 6 to earn the victory.

Schaumburg 7, Jacobs 3: The Golden Eagles (0-1) tied the game a 3 runs in the third inning, but that would be all they would be able to score as they were defeated in their season-opener by Schaumburg. Sara Jacobson (2-for-4, 3B, RBI) and Kelsey Peterson (2B, RBI) paced the Golden Eagles offensively. Marissa Lombardo suffered the loss in the circle for Jacobs.
