Principal named at Grayslake North:Scott Fech has been selected as principal of Grayslake North High School, officials announced Tuesday. Fech stepped in as interim principal Dec. 9 after Eric Vance resigned about a week after it surfaced he was the subject of a sexual harassment investigation while performing the same job at Plainfield North High School in 2009. Grayslake High School District 127 Superintendent Catherine Finger described Fech as "having proven to be the perfect match for our colleagues, students and parents at Grayslake North High School. Fech joined District 127 in 2008 as assistant superintendent for personnel services. Finger said Fech has a passion for teaching and learning. Fech previously worked in Indiana as a principal, classroom teacher, tennis coach and activity sponsor. District 127 board members approved Fech at a Feb. 11 meeting.Kingergarten registration:Kindergarten pre-registration will take place at the three elementary schools in Wauconda School District 118 on Wednesday, March 10, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Students must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1 and live within the boundaries of Wauconda CUSD 118 to be eligible to pre-register for kindergarten. Parents will be asked to complete the necessary paperwork to enroll their child and to bring the following documents: Two pieces of proof of residency, your child's state-issued birth certificate and your child's Social Security card. Registration packets may be picked up in advance at the school offices beginning March 1. From Libertyville High, Kristen King got the honor. At Vernon Hills High, Matthew Hlavacek, Juliana McLain, Michael Wagner and Andrew Welter were nominated. The program recognizes graduating seniors who represent excellence in education and the promise of greatness in America's youth, officials said.
