Minus Heine, Hampshire downs G-K
Playing without senior standout Chrissy Heine, who was nursing a sore ankle, the Hampshire girls basketball team was able to get past Genoa-Kingston 46-33 Thursday night in a Big Northern crossover game at Hampshire.
The Whip-Purs (20-1) started off strong as they led 16-6 after one quarter of play and never looked back.
Alex Dumoulin paced the Whip-Purs, leading all scorers with 14 points, while Karla Vietinghoff also registered double-digits with 11 points.
IMSA 39, Westminster Christian 38: The Warriors (9-13, 2-5), who were down 2 starters due to the flu, turned in a thrilling game, but fell just short in this Northeastern Athletic Conference matchup as they were defeated by IMSA on the road. Sarah Rodgers was the lone Warrior to reach double-figures, recording a double-double with 16 points and 11 steals.
Elgin Academy 45, Harvest Christian Academy 26: The Hilltoppers (7-8) scored early and often as they cruised to an easy victory over Harvest Christian Academy in nonconference action. Alyssa Pena recorded double-digits to lead the Hilltoppers with 13 points while Lauren Steimle added 7 points.
Rolling Meadows 57, Larkin 34: The Royals (1-18) started off slow and were unable to recover as they were defeated by Rolling Meadows in this nonconference contest at home. Stacie Beaver turned in a double-digit performance, pacing the Royals with 12 points.
