Woodstock Opera House to launch 'Tribute' series
It's cold now, but things are warming up at the Woodstock Opera House. Beginning on Jan. 30 and throughout the entire month of February, the Opera House will be rocking every Saturday night.
At 7 p.m. Jan. 30, the Opera House welcomes Chicago's own Cathy Richardson. Local fans knew the about hard-rocking Cathy Richardson Band long before her talents lead her to success far beyond her Chicago roots. Richardson stepped onto the national stage after landing the staring role as music legend Janis Joplin in the smash hit New York stage production of "Love, Janis." Richardson will bring her band to the Opera House, for one show only, having recently returned from Europe as a part of the "Heros of Woodstock" worldwide tour where she performed as lead vocalist with Jefferson Starship.
The Opera House 'Tribute" Series will be at 8 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 6-27. The producers of last summer's Woodstock "Tribute"concert at Galt Airport have invited four of the tribute bands that performed at last summer's outdoor festival to return to Woodstock for a series of special encore performances on the intimate Woodstock Opera House stage. If you were at the Galt Airport show in August, or heard how great the music was and how masterfully these bands performed, be sure to get tickets now.
In addition, the Opera House welcomes special guest, Artie Kornfeld. The famous songwriter, legendary record producer and co-creator of the original 1969 Woodstock Festival will appear live and in person at the Feb. 6 concert, the first in the Opera House "Tribute" Series.
Kornfeld comes to Woodstock as the special guest of One Zero Charlie Productions and Read Between The Lynes book store. Kornfeld, of Woodstock (New York) fame, will be in Woodstock (Illinois) to promote his new book, "The Pied Piper of Woodstock." He will speak before the concert and introduce Ohio who will perform a tribute to the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. After the show, Kornfeld will join members of the band for more music and a "meet & greet" at D.C. Cobbs Tavern & Eatery.
The "Tribute Series" concerts are as follows:
• Feb. 6: Ohio, a tribute to the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
