Jacobs topples West Aurora
Maria Tamburrino scored 14 of her game-high 16 points in the second half Monday to lead the Jacobs girls basketball team to a 47-37 win over West Aurora at the MLK Day of Hoops at Joliet West.
The Golden Eagles (18-6) have now won 7 of their last 8 games and 3 in a row.
Kelsey Quitschau also turned in a double-digit performance recording 10 points in the win.
Westminster Christian 45, Woodlands Academy 20: The Warriors scored early and often as they cruised to an easy victory over Woodlands Academy in their 3rd Annual Martin Luther King Girls Basketball Tournament. Rachel Doby poured in a game-high 21 points to lead the Warriors with double-digit points while Emily Bickford chipped in 8 points.
Keith School 50, Westminster Christian 38: The Warriors (4-11), playing in their second game of the day, were unable to hold onto their 2-point halftime lead as they were defeated by Keith School in the championship game of the 3rd Annual Martin Luther King Girls Basketball Tournament. Sarah Rodgers and Hannah Graves paced the Warriors, turning in double figures with 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Rachel Doby added 9 points.
