Candidate, indeed, has cut budgets

In a recent story on the race for District 6, DuPage County Board, candidate Matt Fuesting indicated his belief that the other candidates in the race have no experience cutting budgets. I beg to differ.

Bob Larsen became a Milton Township trustee in May 2005 and immediately set out to cut the township's budget. In his first year on the board, Larsen and the board cut the overall township budget by more than 9 percent.

Four years later, the 2009 budget is still lower than the budget for 2005. During that period, Bob's sound financial reasoning and deliberate and conscientious fiscal conservatism have helped to maintain appropriate cash reserves. In fact, in 2008 we abated $180,000 to the taxpayers of Milton Township.

Contrary to Mr. Fuesting's assertion, Bob Larsen is very experienced in the often-difficult and delicate process of cutting budgets while maintaining necessary service levels. Don't you think your readers deserve the whole story?
