The Larkin girls basketball team is no longer winless.
The Royals (1-11) picked up their first victory of the season Tuesday, downing Joliet Central 44-33 in the Wolves Winter Classic at Oswego East.
Abigail Alvarez was the lone Royal to score double-digits with 16 points while freshman Allison Smith added 9 points. Jill Casebeer pulled down 14 rebounds to lead the Royals on the boards.
Jacobs 47, Lake Park 45 (2 OT): The Golden Eagles (13-5) were down by 4 points heading into the fourth quarter, but came back to tie the game at the end of regulation and eventually pulled out a victory in double-overtime against Lake Park at the Montini Christmas Tournament. Maria Tamburrino poured in 24 points to lead the Golden Eagles including going 4-of-4 from the line in the final overtime. Hailey Cnota also turned in a double-digit performance scoring 6 of her 13 points in overtime.
Chicago Westinghouse 23, Westminster Christian 21: The Warriors (4-7) came up just short Tuesday, falling to Chicago Westinghouse in the Providence-St. Mel Tournament which plays two, 18 minute, running clock halves. Rachel Doby fell just short of a double-double turning in a 9 point, 9 rebound performance. The Warriors will play again today at 10 a.m. against Reed-Custer.
St. Edward 38, Timothy Christian 32: The Green Wave (8-6) started off strong and never looked back as they pulled out a victory over Timothy Christian at the Lisle Holiday Cage Classic. Alexandria Lee paced the Green Wave with 13 points while Callie Johnson just missed double-digits chipping in 9 points.
