Student ministries director: Emily Tilsy has recently joined Salem United Methodist Church in Barrington as director of student ministries. She graduated from Judson University with a degree in worship arts. Emily has experience in youth work and missions, and is excited to see what a difference the Salem youth can make in surrounding communities and beyond. The youth are currently fundraising for their summer mission trip to Nashville.

Dec. 18

Christmas program: More than 100 teens and young adults from 30 local communities will present "Christ: A Timeless Gift to All" at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Buffalo Grove chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, corner of Prairie, Port Clinton and Buffalo Grove roads. This Christmas music program includes three stages of choirs, bands, dancing and acting. The musicians will present scenes from Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and a USO show. Free.

Dec. 19
