Prus, Buffalo Grove overpower Prairie Ridge
An hour-and-a-half bus ride to Crystal Lake didn't have any adverse effects on Buffalo Grove's boys basketball team and Nick Prus on Tuesday night.
Prus matched his career-high by scoring 20 of his 28 points in the first half and the Bison (6-2) rolled to a 68-46 nonconference victory at Prairie Ridge.
"We really played an exceptional first half - probably the best half we've played all year," said BG coach Ryan O'Connor of his team's 45-25 lead. "We said we wanted to come out and create some energy and we did that."
Prus hit four 3-pointers as he equaled the 28 points he scored against Holy Trinity in BG's Thanksgiving tournament. John Angotti added 13 points and Kevin Mulligan scored 12 points and contained Prairie Ridge (3-4) standout Chad Ljunggren to 10 points.
"Mulligan was draped all over him most of the night," O'Connor said. "He did a nice job on him."
