Boy Scouts seek nominations:

The Boy Scouts of America is seeking nominations through Feb. 8, 2010, in the Three Fires Council and across the country for the BSA 100th Anniversary National Hall of Leadership. Inductions to the National Hall of Leadership will be based on stories submitted online to local BSA councils and reviewed by a national panel of judges. The stories must explain how nominees made an extraordinary difference in the lives of others through their leadership. Each story must be 450 words or less. For details, see threefirescouncil.org.

Northside Park work continues:

Due to the ongoing renovation of Northside Park, the warming shelter at the Wheaton park will remain closed for the winter. Sledding and ice skating won't be available. Meanwhile, officials say the renovation project is making headway. The former Wheaton Park District maintenance building has been razed, and the grading of the dewatering area along Gary Avenue has been completed. Access throughout the park is limited. The recommended detour around the park is to use the sidewalks on Cole Avenue and Main Street. For project updates, visit wheatonparkdistrict.com.
