Antioch's girls basketball team has suffered some tough losses in the early part of the season, but the Sequoits got a much-needed win Saturday.

Junior point guard Andi Potkonjak and senior forward Allie Anttila led Antioch to a 49-39 win over host Round Lake that hiked the Sequoits' record to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the North Suburban Prairie Division.

Potkonjak had 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Anttila added 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Lauren Tiffany contributed 7 points and 9 rebounds for Antioch, and Nicole Kelly grabbed 7 rebounds.

Round Lake's Chanae Brown led all scorers with a career-best 22 points.

"We just ran out of gas," said coach Gary Edge, whose Panthers fell to 3-4 and 0-3 with their fourth straight loss. "But we played awfully, awfully hard."

Lake Forest 51, Mundelein 46: The visiting Scouts won their North Suburban Lake opener and stayed undefeated, as Mary Striedl scored a game-high 19 points.

Claire DiMario added 12 for Lake Forest (7-0).

Mundelein (5-3, 1-1) was led in scoring by Brooke Evans with 9 points. Olivia Dunigan, Amanda Davis (two 3-pointers) and Alison Richards each had eight.

Wauconda 55, North Chicago 16: Kelsey Mills scored a season-high 13 points for the Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie game.

Tammy Ellis made her season debut for Wauconda (4-2, 2-0) after being sidelined with a back injury. The returning starter had 5 points, 3 steals and 2 rebounds.

The Bulldogs also got 9 rebounds from Erinn Hellweg, while Kate Martino racked up 8 points, 4 assists and 3 steals.
