Elk Grove won its first Elk Grove-Fenton-Lake Park Tournament with a 55-25 victory over Northside Prep.

The Grenadiers (5-0) were led by seniors Ashley Capotosto (18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals), Courtney Lindfors (16 points, 7 rebounds) and Olivia Roback (6 points, 6 assists, 4 steals), who did not make a turnover while playing about 20 minutes at the point guard position.

"We've been seeing a lot of zone defenses and this game was probably the best job we've done at seeing each other, seeing the gaps in the zones and being unselfish with the ball," said Grenadiers coach Ryan Kirkorsky, whose club hosts Fremd in a Mid-Suburban League crossover contest on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Hoffman Estates 32, Fenton 16: Hoffman Estates (4-1), the two-time defending champ, took second place in the Elk Grove-Fenton-Lake Park tournament behind Elk Grove.

Senior Megan Bernardoni led the Hawks with 9 points in three quarters of action.

Precious Ogunleye collected 11 rebounds while Kelsey Lukowicz handed out 3 assists. Mary Pettit had 4 steals and Jada Stotts 3.

Conant 48, Naperville North 35: Conant got its first win in the Waubonsie Valley tournament on its last day.

The Cougars (2-3, 1-3) were led by seniors Kim Davis (18 points) and Kelsey McMahon (11).

Prospect 49, Downers Grove South 34: Lexi Glennon (10 points), Sarah Winans (10 points), Rachel Hunt (8) and Sarah Hunt (10) were top scorers for Prospect (5-0, 4-0), which won the tournament for the third straight year under coach Martha Kelly.

Rachel Hunt, Winans and Glennon were varsity players for all three championship squads, which have won 12 straight games in the tourney.

Sarah Hunt led the Knights on the boards with 9 rebounds while she and her sister Rachel each had 3 blocked shots.

Glennon handed out 5 assists while Marissa Pettenuzzo collected 3 steals.

"It's a good way to start the season," Kelly said. "It gets us ready for conference play."

Barrington 39, Crystal Lake South 26: Barrington (4-1) ended up a in three-way tie for first in the Bison Classic with Maine South and Libertyville, which was awarded the title through a tiebreaker,

The Fillies were led by Emily Harris (11 points), Abby Kirchoff (9) and Shelby Whigham (8).

"Defensively, we created a lot of opportunities but offensively there was a lid on the basket," said Barrington coach Babbi Barreiro.

Kirchoff grabbed 6 rebounds with 4 steals and 2 assists while Harris collected 4 rebounds and 3 steals.

"We once again had a lot of players contributing defensively," Barreiro added. "Emily made a lot of things happen on the defensive side, and Shelby played well."

Sam Maasarani and Harris were all-tourney selections for the Fillies.

Maine South 53, Buffalo Grove 51: Andre DiPrima (16 points), Heather Nisbet (12) and KC Dunne (11) led Buffalo Grove (2-3) on the final day of its own Bison Classic.

Senior forward Stacy Lialios added 6 for the Bison, who led 27-23 at half.

Nisbet tossed home four 3-pointers while DiPrima had 3.

"We were showed some flashes of good things but we need to be more consistent," Dudle said. "I think we're growing with each game."

Dunne was an all-tourney selection for the Bison.

Mother McAuley 50, Maine West 36: Senior Megan O'Neill's 15 points and 6 rebounds led Maine West (2-2, 1-2) in a third-round game of its own Tip-off Classic. Sam Acosta added 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers while Ellen Coogan pulled down 6 rebounds with 5 points.

"We played better defense but our offense was absent," said Maine West coach Derril Kipp.

Marian Catholic 60, Hersey 41: Junior Megan Rogowski led the Huskies with 22 points in the third round of the Tip-off Classic.

The Huskies (2-2, 2-1) were 1-of-15 from 3-point land.

"Our shooting percentage has been great the last two games," Fendley said. "Their pressure bothered us and we just couldn't hit our open shots this time."
