DuPage honors vets:
DuPage County will observe Veterans Day at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at the county convalescent center, 400 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton. The ceremony is open to the public. Speeches from area veterans will be followed by "Amazing Grace" and taps.
Music students to compete:
Thirteen Willowbrook High School music students were selected to attend the Illinois Music Educators Association District IX Senior All-District Music Festival. The fest will be Nov. 21 at Hampshire High School for band, chorus and orchestra. The jazz band will perform Nov. 14 at St. Charles North High School. Willowbrook competitors are: Jonathan Steben, trumpet; Marina Stingley, flute; Angie Sullivan, bassoon; Danielle Zito, clarinet; Chole Stady, viola; Michael Anstett, tenor I; Ty Baumann, tenor II; Tova Bergsten, soprano I; Samantha King, soprano II; Kayla Lindsay, alto I; Elaine Schaudt, alto I; Jacob Storck, tenor I; Eric Wells, tenor II.
Lombard welcomes business:
Lombard's community development department is launching a program to help promote new businesses in the village. Businesses that receive a certificate of occupancy will be eligible to be listed in the village newsletter, on the village Web site and have their arrival announced by the village president at a board meeting.
