Teams to Watch: With the top four teams in state, this easily will be the toughest conference meet in state. The Illinois Cross Country Coaches Poll has Palatine ranked No. 1 followed by Schaumburg, Prospect and Hoffman Estates. Barrington is at No. 10. Palatine is the defending MSL champion and has been consistent all season, defeating the three vhallengers at a dual or invite. Junior Sarah McIntosh, junior Courtney Brown and senior Ruth Allen lead the Pirates. Schaumburg is coming off a very impressive victory at Sterling with five in the top 22, led by Britten Petrey, Karen Lesiewicz, and Colette Falsey. Prospect won the Peoria Central Invite on Oct. 3 and hopes to carry that momentum into Saturday. Senior Annette White and freshman Brooke Wolfe lead the Knights. Hoffman is looking to have No. 1 runner Melissa Schmidt back after the senior sat out (ankle) at West Aurora last weekend. The Hawks are deep and sophomore Haley Goers has found a new gear.
