Scouting Grant @ Lake Forest

Grant (3-3) at Lake Forest (2-4)

When 7:30 p.m. today

Last week Grant def. Wauconda, 40-18; Lake Forest def. Mundelein, 42-6.

Skinny This is a critical game for two teams uncertain if they'll play postseason football. Grant is hot, with three straight wins after an 0-3 start. The Bulldogs have been competitive in every game and now face Lake Forest's prolific passing offense (35.8 points per game) led by Notre Dame-bound quarterback Tommy Rees and wide receiver Connor Moutvic. The Scouts run a spread offense with the gunslinging Rees and throw the ball nearly every down. In their running-clock win over Mundelein last Friday, Rees completed 14 of 20 passes for 334 yards and 3 touchdowns. Lake Forest got multiple-TD games from T.J. Jackson (32-yard pass, 52-yard run) and Owen Williams (6- and 83-yard runs). A loss will eliminate the Scouts from playoff contention. ... Grant's offense boasts veterans Justin Cokefair (quarterback) and Dan Hourihan (fullback), as well as junior running back/QB Leo Minne. Minne had touchdown runs of 16 and 58 yards against Wauconda last Saturday, and finished with 110 rushing yards on 19 carries. He also completed 2 of 2 passes for 82 yards.
