Grandma's Steak and Mushrooms

2-3 tablespoons olive oil

-2 pounds round steak, cubed in 1-11/2-inch pieces

1 teaspoon salt

½

teaspoon pepper

½

cup flour

2 cans (14 ounces each) beef broth

4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 medium onion, cut in 8-10 pieces

4 cloves garlic, chopped or pressed

1 pound, about, canned whole mushrooms

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Heat oil at medium in large skillet. Season round steak with salt and pepper. Brown meat on all sides but do not cook through. Place in 4-quart oven-safe dish with pan drippings.

In a bowl whisk together flour, beef broth and Worcestershire sauce until smooth. Pour over the meat; add onion and garlic. Cover and bake 21/2 hours or until meat is tender.

Add mushrooms, with or without juice, and cook 30 minutes longer. Meat should fall apart. Serve with mashed potatoes and vegetables.

Serves four to six.
