Thursday's Fox Valley roundup

Jacobs kept its championship hopes alive in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division softball race Thursday, beating Dundee-Crown 11-1.

If McHenry beats Cary-Grove today, Jacobs can gran a share of the title with McHenry by beating the Warriors Saturday morning. If Cary-Grove beats McHenry today, the outright title will be on the line Saturday morning.

In Thursday's win, Marissa Lombardo (9-4) allowed just 2 hits for the Golden Eagles (20-11, 10-4). Gigi Mueller was 3-for-3 with an RBI while Lombardo and Kelsey Peterson each had doubles.

Emilie Kerkman suffered the loss for the Chargers and Melany Love had a double.

Streamwood 5, Fenton 4: Streamwood earned its third win of the season in this nonconference game. Julissa Alvarez had 2 RBI for the Sabres. Amanda Patterson picked up the win and Kelsey Johnson earned the save.

Huntley 7, Johnsburg 1: Sam Clemons recorded her 20th win of the season as the Red Raiders moved to 21-11 with this FVC Fox win. Alex Albanese (2-for-3, 2 RBI), Sarah Clancy (2-for-3, RBI) and Deana DeBoscherre (2-for-3) led Huntley's offense.

CL South 3, Woodstock 1: Liz Adams and Emily Mahoney each drove in runs and Kaitlin Hardie scored twice as the Gators (21-11, 8-6) earned an FVC Valley win. Freshman Hannah Mahoney scattered 6 hits and struck out 12 to earn the win.

Hampshire 8, ACC 4: Megan Roadcap had 2 doubles and Jordan Moore one as Hampshire (12-16-1) prevailed in nonconference play. Ally Kent (7-7) earned the win, striking out 11.

South Elgin 12, Lake Park 10: Courtney Bosteder was 3-for-3 with a double and a home run and 5 RBI and Layla Ismajlaj went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run and 4 RBI as South Elgin (21-11, 14-5) won an Upstate Eight slugfest. Kim Pierce was 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI for the Storm while Kaitlyn Stonecipher and Caitlin Stredde each had 2 hits. Lauren Vitiello earned the win in the circle with Diana Besser picking up the save.

Larkin 13, East Aurora 2: Lexi Smithberg struck out eight and allowed just 2 hits as Larkin (6-20, 5-18) won in the Upstate Eight. Megan Johnson (2B, 2 RBI), Anna Esterino (3 hits, 2 RBI) and Kelsey Lodge (2 hits, RBI) led the Larkin offense.
