Snyder wins 7th as Grayslake Central tops Huntley

Grayslake Central's baseball team snapped a two-game losing streak and beat a quality opponent in the process.

The Rams rallied for a 4-3 win over visiting Huntley on Thursday, as Aaron Snyder picked up his seventh win of the season.

Huntley leads the Fox Valley Fox Division.

Snyder tossed 51/3 innings, allowing 2 earned runs with 6 strikeouts.

Kevin O'Rourke retired the final five hitters to earn the save.

Offensively, Grayslake Central (15-13) received a double and 2 singles from Jackson White, while Angelo Gargano clubbed a pair of doubles with 2 RBI.

Kurt Schmidt also had a double for the Rams.

"It's nice to finally win a close game," Grayslake Central coach Troy Whalen said. "We've battled with adversity all year, but the kids have stuck together. We have the players to make some noise in the post-season."

Grayslake Central visits Crystal Lake Central on Friday.

CL Central 8, Grayslake North 7 (8 inn.): Kevin Staszczak and Matt Robinson homered for the Knights (8-19), who fell to 3-7 in the Fox Valley Fox.

Robinson also had a double. The Knights got 2 hits apiece from Robinson, Staszczak, Vinnie Licciardello and Ed Tatera.

Prairie Ridge 9, Grant 8: Thomas Gier homered for the third time in three games, as the Bulldogs fell to the defending state champs.

Warren 8, Lakes 1: Scott Heelan went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Blue Devils (15-10).

Chad Johnson added a double and 2 RBI, and Matt Dowd had a single and an RBI.

Lakes fell to 19-9.

Carmel 10, St. Joseph 1: Cal St. Clair earned the win for the Corsairs, allowing only 1 hit in 5 innings of work.
