Wauconda earns 19th win, taking Marengo 7-2
Wauconda's softball team equaled its win total of last season.
The Bulldogs beat Marengo 7-2 in a nonconference game to improve to 19-6.
Amanda Pausa was 2-for-3, while Kate Martino had an RBI double. Brittany Ehmann pitched 4 innings of 3-hit ball for the win. Sara Super tossed 3 scoreless innings for the save.
Grayslake Central 2, Dundee-Crown 1: The Rams won the Fox Valley Conference crossover by pushing across a run in the bottom of the ninth.
Monika Wedick went the distance in the circle for the Rams, striking out 10 while allowing 7 hits and 5 walks. The 1 run she allowed was unearned.
Grayslake North 10, Woodstock 2: Carly Borders and Mindy Runge homered for the host Knights in the Fox Valley crossover.
Borders finished 3-for-4, while Brooke Tracy had a single and 2 walks. Winning pitcher Kristi Gandy had 7 strikeouts.
Vernon Hills 3, Carmel 2: Anna Christensen was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI for the Cougars, who scored all of their runs in the bottom of the sixth and then held on, as the Corsairs scored twice in the seventh.
Charlotte Hoffmann threw a complete game in earning the win over Rachel Tack.
Vernon Hills improved to 14-4.
Glenbrook North 3, Stevenson 0: Alyssa Vechiola was 2-for-3 for the Patriots, who fell to 15-8 with the nonconference loss.
