Kristi Knott went 2-for-4 with an RBI and 5 stolen bases and Lea Diaz was 2-for-2 with a triple as St. Edward won is third straight game Tuesday, dropping Marian Central 7-0 in Suburban Catholic Conference softball action.
Sarah Field scattered 5 hits and struck out seven with no walks in pitching her second straight shutout for the Green Wave (12-9, 5-3).
Stephanie Werner and Kristina Brockner each drove in runs for St. Edward as well.
Neuqua Valley 3, Bartlett 2: Callie Dennison had a double for Bartlett (11-9, 4-5) suffered another tough Upstate Eight loss. Dennison (9-6) was also the losing pitcher. Colleen Hohman picked up the win for Neuqua (13-4, 9-2). "We played a good defensive game against a good team, we just came up short," said Bartlett coach Jim Wolfsmith.
Jacobs 3, Woodstock 2: Marissa Lombardo (6-2) returned to the circle and scattered 5 hits with 7 strikeouts as the Golden Eagles (12-8, 6-1) stayed ahead of the pack in the FVC Valley. Kelsey Peterson had a home run and Sam Vojtsek doubled for Jacobs.
Huntley 3, CL Central 0: Sam Clemons allowed just 4 hits in moving her record to 15-7 as Huntley (16-9, 6-2) won in the FVC Fox. Jenna Mychko was 3-for-4 with 2 RBI for the Red Raiders while Clemons went 2-for-4 with a double.
Lake Park 9, Streamwood 1: Bri Bodgewicz and Jen Clellenthin (RBI) had 2 hits each for Streamwood (1-17, 1-9) in this Upstate Eight loss. Jenna Szabo was the losing pitcher.
Burlington Central 10, Richmond 0: Lindsay Lange (2B, 3B, 2 RBI), Ashley Scheffler (2B, 3B, 4 RBI) and Mackenzie Scott (2B) each had 3 hits as the Rockets (13-3, 6-0) rolled to another Big Northern East win. Brittany Priest also drove in a run for BC and Kayla Oranger had 2 stolen bases. Scott pitched 4 innings of no-hit ball with 8 strikeouts and Jet Kein allowed 1 hit in her 1 inning.
Hampshire 10, North Boone 2: Allie Kent struck out 13 and allowed just 3 hits to lead Hampshire (8-10-1, 3-4) to a Big Northern East win. Kent had a double while Megan Roadcap had a double and a triple for the Whip-Purs. Jordan Moore and Tegan Singleton each had doubles as well.
St. Charles North 4, Elgin 2: Hannah Perryman (4-8) struck out seven and allowed 6 hits but Elgin could manage only 3 hits in this Upstate Eight loss. Kelly Patchett, Jaclyn Navarro and Maria Aguilera had the hits for the Maroons (5-18, 3-9).
Prairie Ridge 13, Grayslake North 0: Lexi Wachman had a double and 2 RBI to lead the Wolves (20-5, 7-0) to this FVC Fox win.
McHenry 10, Dundee-Crown 2: Melissa Summaria had 2 hits for D-C (4-13, 0-6) in this FVC Valley loss. Dayna Schultz added a double for the Chargers.
