Friday's Fox Valley roundup

Christine Schumacher scored a hat trick and Natalie Starrenburg and Kelly Plichta added single goals Friday as the Hampshire girls soccer team downed Harvard 5-1 in the Big Northern East, running the Whip-Purs' unbeaten streak to 7 straight.

Alex Heinrich made 6 saves in goal for Hampshire (5-2-2, 5-0).

"During this seven game unbeaten streak the girls have outscored their opponents 30-2," said Whips coach Patrick O'Brien. "They have been strong in all facets of the game. Schumacher was outstanding yet again for us and it was great to see Natalie get a goal in her first varsity game."

Crystal Lake South 1, Niles North 0: Carly Juliano scored on an assist from Karli Schumaker in the first half and that would be all the Gators (5-8) would need to win their first game at the Glenbrook South Invite. Jessica Taldone registered 2 saves in goal in the victory.
