Sisters Weekend offers girlfriend getaway without the long car ride
When troubled times get you down, what's a modern woman to do?
In St. Charles this weekend, the solution is sisterhood.
Sisters Weekend - April 24-26 in downtown St. Charles - offers stressed moms, wives, caregivers and career women a chance to unwind and have fun without traveling long distances.
"Sisters Weekend is one with no kids, no laundry, no 'to do' list ... it's women connecting with their sisters of all sorts to shop, dine, and be pampered with a sister, mother, cousin, girlfriend or colleague," Rachel Sullivan said in a news release.
Sullivan is co-chairwoman of Sisters Weekend and director of activities and entertainment at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.
"And for the price of just a typical facial, each guest can enjoy a yoga workshop, wine-tasting event, biking tours, pajama party, personal enrichment sessions on skin care, nutrition and balanced living," she added.
If all that pampering and touring doesn't tire you out, put on your boogie shoes and head to the Arcada Theatre for Saturday night's headline act, The Village People.
Julie Farris, the event's past chair, is counting the days to Sisters Weekend, returning for her fifth year, and bringing six friends as her guests.
"Sisters Weekend is a refreshing, recharging weekend, full of experiences that really make women feel energized and pampered," said Farris, proprietor of Pottawatomie Popcorn in St. Charles. "And after months of 'cutting back' and watching our budgets, it's a perfect way to treat ourselves to an experience of so many of our favorite things."
So how much does all this fun cost? The basic registration fee is $75, which covers all activities in the three-day itinerary and includes shopping discounts at area boutiques.
