Sophomore Kara Arceneaux tossed a 1-hitter with 6 strikeouts and no walks Thursday as the Jacobs softball team downed St. Charles East 3-0 in a nonconference game at Jacobs.
Sara Jacobson hit a solo home run for the Golden Eagles, who moved to 2-2 on the season with the win.

Westminster Christian 15, Chicago Hope 5: Katie Moeller had 11 strikeouts in the circle and went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Westminster (1-2) to its first win of the season. Sarah Serrato was 3-for-3 with a triple and Andrea Welsh had 2 hits for the Warriors.
CL Central 5, Elgin 4: The Maroons (1-10) fell in 8 innings in nonconference play.
Hannah Perryman and Kelly Patchett each had RBI doubles for Elgin. Patchett suffered the loss in the circle, allowing just 5 hits and no earned runs.
"We left 10 runners stranded," said Elgin coach Peg Corcoran. "We need to do a better job with runners in scoring position."
Johnsburg 11, Hampshire 1: Tegan Singleton had a double and was the losing pitcher for Hampshire (2-4) in this nonconference setback. Singleton's double was Hampshire's only hit in the loss.
