Seamon, Precht pace Antioch
Antioch's softball team put together another dominating performance Wednesday.
Led by Samie Seamon and Jen Precht, the Sequoits pounded out 21 hits in a 17-0 win over host Grant in North Suburban Prairie Division action.
Leadoff-batter Seamon was 3-for-3 with a double, triple and 4 RBI, while Precht went 4-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI from the ninth spot in the batting order.
Cat Dinklenburg was 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Antioch (3-0, 2-0) got 2 hits apiece from Alli Anttila (3 RBI), Olivia Duehr and Hannah Vandevoorde. Lauren Moore had a triple.
Duehr pitched a 1-hitter over 5 innings, striking out nine and not walking a batter.
Amber Smith had the lone hit for Grant.
Lakes 2, Grayslake Central 1: Freshman Sara Braden hit a solo home run with one out in the top of the sixth, lifting the Eagles to the nonconference win.
Nicole Speck went 3-for-4 with a double, and Naomi Tesar was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Lakes (4-3). Shannon Cooley was 2-for-4 and also earned the win, moving her record to 3-2. She struck out five.
Grayslake Central got doubles from Claire Brennan and Tory Dohm. Monika Wedick allowed only 1 earned run and had 5 strikeouts.
Lake Zurich 7, Prospect 1: Paige Goldberg was 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI for the host Bears, who jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings of the nonconference game.
Megan Mattera went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Lake Zurich (4-2), while freshman Amanda Orchard had a single and 2 walks.
Sophomores Mattera and Tabbetha Bohac combined on a 4-hitter with 10 strikeouts. Mattera fanned six in 3 shutout innings.
Grayslake North 6, Richmond-Burton 4: Brooke Tracy had 3 hits, including a double, and Mindy Runge had a pair of hits for the Knights in the nonconference game.
Winning pitcher Samantha Myers had 8 strikeouts.
