Huntley 10, Marengo 0: Craig Lipp did it all for Huntley (8-1-1) Wednesday afternoon as he picked up a 10-0 shutout nonconference victory over Marengo in 6 innings. Lipp not only earned the win on the mound going 5 innings, striking out 10, but he also came through on the offensive end going 4-for-4 with 2 doubles, 2 home runs , 4 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
Phil Pupillo (2-for-3, 2B, 2 runs), Zach Liebman (3 RBI) and Chris Klein (1-for-2, 2 runs, 1 RBI) also contributed offensively for the Red Raiders.
Hampshire 7, Belvidere North 2: Hampshire (5-4) started out strong putting up 3 runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back on the way to a 7-2 road victory over Belvidere North. Kent Larson (5-0) went the distance for the Whip-Purs to maintain his perfect winning record, striking out 12 while only giving up 5 hits, 3 of those coming in the first inning. Zach Crinigan (2-for-2, 2B), James Goebbert (2-for-4, 2B, RBI), and Ryan DeChant (1-for-2, 2 RBI) led Hampshire offensively.
Cary-Grove 17, Buffalo Grove 1: Matt Nelsen (3-0) led Cary-Grove (6-3-1) to a lopsided victory as the Trojans routed Buffalo Grove 17-1. Nelsen pitched all 5 innings while only giving up 2 hits. Chris Waylock (1-1, 3 RBI) and Kevin Adams (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI) each contributed a home run in the win.
Burlington Central 12, Byron 1: Burlington Central (4-3) pounded out 10 hits against Byron en route to a 12-1 victory. Nick Hahn (HR, 2 RBI) and Tanner Scott (2 2B's, 2 RBI) paced the Rockets' offense with 2 and 3 hits respectively. Bill Rodriguez (1-1) was the winning pitcher allowing just 3 hits while striking out 8 batters in 5 innings of work.
