Grayslake North High School wins grant:

Grayslake North High School received a $1,000 grant from the Northern Illinois Computing Educators, officials announced Friday. Grayslake North media specialist Cynthia Karabush submitted a project called "Listen Up/Escuchen!" that led to the award. Karabush said the grant money will provide students an opportunity to borrow iPod Shuffles preloaded with MP3 files of novels they are required to read for class. Students who need additional reading assistance can then listen along while looking at the text, Karabush said, which fosters increased engagement with the text. Karabush plans to present her project idea to a meeting of the computer educators set for May 6 at Maine South High School in Park Ridge.
