Wood Dale police patrols

Wood Dale police will step up patrols over St. Patrick's Day weekend as part of a grant funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Officers will intensify enforcement efforts against impaired drivers, placing special emphasis on both residential and arterial roadways at various times throughout the day. For details, call Sgt. Charity bowl-athon still open

Warrenville Youth & Family Services is still accepting team registrations, prize donations and sponsorships for its annual Bowl-athon, set for 9 to 11:30 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Bowling Green Sports Center, 30W150 Roosevelt Road, West Chicago. Raffle prizes will include Chicago White Sox, Bulls, Rush and Kane County Cougars tickets, overnight stays in area hotels, furniture, various restaurant gift certificates, Shedd Aquarium passes and more. Band seeks used instruments

The Wheaton Band Festival is conducting its fifth annual drive to collect used musical instruments that will be given to disadvantaged children and to teens. The instruments will allow them to join music classes, bands and summer music camps offered by the Salvation Army. Instruments may be donated up the 10th anniversary of the Wheaton Band Festival, scheduled for the third weekend in July. Donors receive a tax-deductible receipt from the Salvation Army.
